Many of the people who visit Winsleys are going through something hard. We think you should know exactly what we collect about you, why, and how to make us stop. This notice covers this website, winsleys.co.uk, including the blog.
Who we are
Winsleys Finance Ltd is the data controller for the personal information described here. We're registered in England and Wales (company number 17007391), with our registered office at First Floor, Swan Buildings, 20 Swan Street, Manchester, M4 5JW. We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under reference ZC236760.
For anything to do with your personal information, write to us at our registered office, marking your letter "Privacy".
What we collect, and why
If you join our waitlist
We store your email address and the date you joined. We use it only to send you updates about Winsleys and to invite you to early access. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by contacting us, and we'll delete your address. Otherwise we keep it until Winsleys opens to everyone and the waitlist closes, then delete it.
If you accept analytics cookies
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site, so we can make it more useful. It records things like the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser, and your approximate location (town or region, never your precise location). Google Analytics doesn't store your IP address.
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited, and Google may process this information in the United States under the UK–US data bridge. Our lawful basis is your consent. Google keeps the detailed, visitor-level data for 2 months; after that only anonymous totals remain. We don't use Google Analytics for advertising, and advertising features are switched off.
If you don't accept, Google Analytics isn't loaded at all and nothing is sent to Google.
When you visit any page
Like almost every website, our web server keeps short-lived logs of requests, including your IP address, the page requested, your browser and the time. We use them only to keep the site running and secure. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in doing that. The logs are deleted whenever we release an update to the site.
Cookies and similar technologies
- cookie-consent (stored in your browser, not a cookie): remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics, so we don't ask on every page. It never leaves your device.
- _ga and _ga_* (cookies, only if you accept): set by Google Analytics to tell visits apart. They last up to two years.
You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page, or . If you withdraw consent, we delete the Google Analytics cookies from your browser straight away.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone for their own marketing. The only other organisations involved are Google (for analytics, and only if you accept) and our hosting provider, which runs the servers this site and the waitlist live on, in a UK data centre.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it if it's wrong
- ask us to delete it
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
- withdraw your consent at any time
- ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere
Just write to us. It's free, and we'll reply within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects you significantly and we have your email address, we'll tell you directly.
